River Guerguerian and the Center for Creative Technology and Arts
News or Press Release
Dear Friends,
This has been an inspiring spring. I just returned from sold out concerts in Turkey and Italy, and also performed at the White House for their Easter Celebrations. The Obamas are very cool and down to earth people.
I am excited to tell you that in September I will be moving my studio into the “Center of Creative Technology & Arts” at the Odyssey Community School (an integrative educational model for students of all ages). I will create a music curriculum for the k-12 classes, and also continue to teach privately and record music.
“The Center’s mission is to create a cutting-edge multi-disciplinary arts center that reaches beyond the borders of the school as a positive influence on the Asheville community"
Come be a part of this exciting new adventure. There are many ways to become involved:
* Attend the “Fundraiser Concert and Art Auction” on June 5 at 7:30 (doors open at 6:30) at the School to raise $30,000 for infrastructure costs. We will be featuring an array of great local artists including: Free Planet Radio, Billy Jonas, Kat Williams, River Guerguerian, Mariam Matossian, Keowee Chamber Artists, Akira Satake, Gerald Trimble, Laura Hope-Gill, John Vorus, Sage Sansone, and Maria Voisin. The evening will also include an art auction with works donated by such well-received artists as Jonas Gerard.
* Make a donation! Whether you attend the concert or not, help make this Center a reality through tax-deductible donations.
You can send checks to Odyssey Community School, 90 Zilicoa Street, Asheville, NC 28801. Please put "CCTA Donation" in memo line. The School will send you a "tax donation receipt letter".
* Please think about donating any musical instruments you are no longer using, these are also tax-deductible (contact me). The School will send you and "in-kind donation form".
This center will not only foster creativity in our young students, but has the potential to become a meeting place for artists to approach larger issues within the community.
