[8:30am-12:30pm] AVL Humane Society Hiking Hounds
Description:
When Jul 25, 2010
from 08:30 am to 12:30 pm

Where Asheville Humane Society Shelter, 72 Lee's Creek Rd
Contact Name Jenny White
Contact Email ahshikinghounds@yahoo.com

The main purpose of the "Hiking Hounds" is for AHS volunteers and shelter dogs to have fun in the beautiful outdoors of Western North Carolina. Besides getting fresh air with our canine hikers, Hiking Hounds adds an enriching activity to a dog's stay at the shelter, exposes dogs to new things and reinforces obedience, burns off some energy in a positive way, increases adoptability by having more exposure to the public, and offers volunteers a new way to interact with the animals.

New volunteers meet at 8:30 AM at the shelter on the scheduled day for a quick orientation. Volunteers who have already attended the orientation can arrive at 9:00 AM. Volunteers fill out an application and sign a waiver prior to departure. Volunteers are matched up with appropriate dogs, pre-selected by shelter staff and the Hiking Hound Coordinator.

If you would like to participate, contact us directly via email at ahshikinghounds@yahoo.com before the hike!

[3:00pm] BLT Presents "Anything Goes" - Brevard
Description:
Brevard Little Theatre presents "Anything Goes"
Directed by Al Edick

Musical comedy, with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, book by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse

Thursdays through Sundays,
July 22 to 25 and July 29 through August 1

Madcap antics abound on the S.S. American as "anything goes!" A trans-Atlantic ocean liner and its zany passenger list form the backdrop for
implausible tales of comic intrigue featuring clownish rich folks, dancing sailors, a cabaret act, celebrity-hunting vacationers, traveling
businessmen, young couples in love, and the occasional laughable gangster thrown in for good measure.

Hugely successful in its initial Broadway run and numerous revivals, this bubbly musical introduced
tunes that have been standards for decades: “You’re the Top,” “It’s De-Lovely,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Let’s Misbehave” and “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” will be stuck in your head for days. This is a musical voyage well worth taking--welcome aboard!

TICKETS: $20 (adults), $12 (full-time students)

PERFORMANCE TIMES:
8 PM Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays
3 PM Sundays

COMPLIMENTARY OPENING NIGHT RECEPTION after July 22nd performance.

All productions staged at BLT's new home, in the American Legion Hall, 55 East Jordan Street, in downtown Brevard.
