  YW Wellness Open House
Description:
The YWCA of Asheville will host a Wellness Open House & Neighborhood Appreciation Day on Monday August 30th from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the YWCA, 185 S. French Broad Ave. Local health practitioners Envision Eyecare, Daoist Traditions College Clinic, West Asheville Massage & Healing Arts, and One Small Step to Health will be present. There will be free chair massages, reiki, eye screenings, a preview of latest styles of eyeware, snacks, giveaways and more. Also, the YW will waive the joining fee for anyone who signs up for Club W: The YWCA Health & Fitness Center anytime on August 30th. Looking for a life-changing volunteer opportunity in your community?

Become an Advocate for Our VOICE

The fall 2010 Advocate training begins September 7th and runs for 10 sessions through September 28t5h. Men and women who are year-round Asheville residents and at least 20 years old are encouraged to apply. Bilingual Spanish speaking volunteers are especially needed.

Advocates for Our VOICE (formerly the Rape Crisis Center) provide direct support to those who have experienced rape and sexual assault, as well as their friends and family members.

Our VOICE Advocates respond to calls on our crisis line and requests for hospital accompaniment during evenings, weekends and holidays. Working with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds, Advocates provide information about medical, legal and mental health options, as well as resources to support and empower clients’ decision making.
