“Women throughout history have traded their very lives for the idea that there is nothing more important than nurturing others. In some ways, I believe that. In other ways, I know that idea, unexamined, threatens my sanity and health.”
True solitude is found in the wild places, where one is without human obligation. One’s inner voices become audible… In consequence, one responds more clearly to other lives.
No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

Another world is not only possible, she’s on her way. Maybe many of us won’t be here to greet her, but on a quiet day, if I listen very carefully, I can hear her breathing.
Some believers accuse skeptics of having nothing left but a dull, cold, scientific world. I am left with only art, music, literature, theatre, the magnificence of nature, mathematics, the human spirit, sex, the cosmos, friendship, history, science, imagination, dreams, oceans, mountains, love, and the wonder of birth. That’ll do for me.
Keep the company of those who seek the truth- run from those who have found it.

~Many of us live the unlived dreams of our mothers. While that is wonderful that we get to live it, it would be better if our mothers were able to live it themselves.
~If we don’t have democratic families we are not going to have a democratic society. As the family is, so is the society.
~A movement has to last a century to be truly absorbed into a society. The way I figure it, we are 40 years into it (referring to Women’s and Civil Rights movements).
~Considering our society’s obsession with accumulation, I would teach two courses about money: “Money is boring” and “What is enough?”
Our solar eclipse and summer solstice…Eclipses wash away the past to start a whole new cycle of energy. Powerful doorways to create major shifts and creative cycles of energy.
