The NC Department of Environmental Quality has extended the deadline for public feedback about North Carolina’s coal combustion residuals (CCR) rules from March 22 to April 6. The DEQ has indicated that they plan to enact their own state CCR rules in addition to the federal rules, which are at risk of being weakened by current EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. If the federal rules are weakened, we need to make sure the state CCR rules can step in to help defend our waters and our communities.
The North Carolina Arts Council launched its work in 1967 as awareness of the importance of arts to all citizens was becoming a national movement. In the ensuing nearly 50 years the arts in North Carolina have come to be valued as one of our state’s most durable and productive assets.

MY GRANDFATHER’S PRAYERS premiered this past Sunday, June 18th to a full crowd. The feedback has been very moving and encouraging. Since 2001, Free Planet Radio has been bringing its exciting and innovative world-jazz-classical music blend to both concert stages and classrooms. Based in Asheville NC, this musical partnership began with a clear mission statement as “the shared vision of three multi-instrumentalists exploring the infinite and seamless relationships between musical cultures through the universal language of sound.”
RiverLink signed the first Brownfield agreement in the Wilma Dykeman RiverWay at its historic Cotton Mill Property. We signed our second Brownfield agreement in the RiverWay at the old EDACO junk yard location on Amboy Rd, adjacent to Carrier Park.
Pan Harmonia continues its 18th season in April & May with two very beautiful, yet different program offerings: early music in a sacred space and harp and flute in an intimate contemporary art gallery.
