Limited Time Special!

Try out the web! Let us host your one-page site as an internal web page - only $140 for one year with a Business Directory ad!

Create a Professional Web Page:

A simple webpage can give you a full page or more of pictures and information about your business. You send us the text and pictures as you would like them  included.

We can host an internal site for you within Sheville. This saves you from having to pay for a domain plus web hosting - plus it's a great opportunity to "try out" the web, without committing much money to the process.

So what's an internal page? When you go out on the web, you'll see addresses like www.sheville.org. That web page has an address on-line that tells everyone's browsers how to find it. To do this, you have to "buy" your name (called a domain) on an annual basis, and then also pay for "hosting" it. Some hosting companies combine these two thing into a single charge, but the bottom line is that you will pay $30, $40, $50 or more per year just to get the address. Once you have it, then you have to load something onto it. And some of even the biggest web hosting sites don't tell you that they have disabled certain features that would make your site more accessible to search engines - a "feature" they only provide with their more expensive hosting.

By purchasing an internal site on Sheville, we handle designing and loading your site for you, and then there's a flat fee for maintenance. What's the downside? Your name has sheville.org as part of its address - that's actually what we mean by internal, because your site is technically part of Sheville's larger site.

We have two price options for hosting your internal page:

  • For $25 per year, we will simply host your site, without making changes to it. Each change you ask for will be billed at $25 per change.
  • For $50 per year, we will host your site, and you can have up to three changes to the text or graphics per year (more if you ask nicely!)

We can design a web site for you, whether for posting to Sheville.org®, or to another host. The charges are:

  • Single page, containing supplied text (up to 1,000 words), links (up to 6) and graphics (up to 6) only, $100
  • Each additional page, containing supplied text, links, and graphics only as per above; linked to home or other page without navigation bar, $75
  • Each additional page, containing supplied text, links, and graphics only as per above; linked to home or other page with navigation bar, $100
  • We can help you to set up your own domain and web hosting. Contact us about rates.
  • We can help you with web optimizing, or to enhance the look of your current website. Contact us about rates.

There are four sample webpages shown here that all are based on our advertiser, 27 Blake Street.  You can have your website in any of these formats for no additional set-up fee. Feel free to click on any of the graphics to see a blow-up of the page.

We do not charge a maintenance fee for our web design. So if we are creating or modifying your site, you only pay for the actual time we spend doing something for you.

Note: should you ask us to design a site for you internally on Sheville.org®, and then you decide that you would like to have your own domain, we will be able to move the designed site to your new domain for a very minimal cost.

Note: should you sign up for Paypal payments below, you should know that web design charges go to a different Paypal account (lee@leelehman.com) than do all the other charges on this page (info@sheville.org).

If You already have a web site:

Great! Now how does a potential customer find it?

The process of helping people to find you is called either search engine optimizing, or simply, web optimizing. How does it work? Here are some of the things that search engines use to evaluate a site:

  • How long has a site been up? Search engines don't tend to reward new sites, which could be transitory. Sheville.org has been up since 2000.
  • How does the site describe itself? Within the web language of html, there are several ways to alert the search engines to the topics that are on the site. However, the search engines may not entirely believe these lists, because so many people have tried to add words that are actually irrelevant to the site. Sheville.org® has a broad variety of articles about Western North Carolina, and that means that there are a lot of words that really do describe what we have on board.
  • Words! Words! Words! A search engine doesn't care what graphics you have. A search engine can only evaluate text. With over 400 articles and many more listings and links, Sheville.org® has the words! There are a lot of ways people can find Sheville, and if they can find us, they can find you - if you advertise with us!
  • Links into your site. Search engines don't care how many sites you link to: they care about how many sites link to you! And they care about what those links say to describe you. We ask our advertisers to link to us, just as we link to them - both parties benefit!

So the bottom line: if you don't want to spend all your time figuring out how to get traffic to your site, let us help you! Our work on optimizing Sheville.org® helps you - if you join us!
