WHAT DO YOU THINK? Now’s the Time

Written by Jane Edwards

To begin with the obvious: the Honorable Judge Neil McGill Gorsuch is going to be the next Associate Justice of the United State Supreme Court. No amount of senatorial bloviation is going to alter that fact. Two reasons: One, the 115th Congress is controlled by Republicans, and, two, Mike Pence is the Vice President.

The House Democrats should be encouraged to not waste time and energy “tilting at windmills,” so to speak. Let it go.

There is something way more important upon which we all must focus: While we already know of Russian President Vladimir Putin orders to his intelligence agencies to wreak havoc in the 2016 US presidential election, (http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/01/06/508568241/putin-ordered-influence-campaign-to-help-trump-u-s-intelligence-report-says, https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3254237/Russia-Hack-Report.pdf), what we do not yet know is to what extent Trump’s campaign camp (i.e., Paul Manafort and/or Michael Flynn) collaborated in this effort (http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/official-flynn-discussed-sanctions-russians-taking-office-n719271, https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2017/02/11/when-it-comes-to-his-contacts-with-russia-michael-flynn-has-bigger-problems-than-the-logan-act/?utm_term=.24ef51d141bf ).

If individuals of Team Trump collaborated in Russia’s efforts to undermine the United States’ electoral system, and, if an investigation reveals a treasonous act, steps must be taken to right the wrong. This is what you must ask your representatives to focus upon.

It is bad enough that the Russians may have deliberately taken away the voice of our voters by intervening in our election process. That there is the probability American citizens (and perhaps a former military general) collaborated in this treachery, is appalling.

Give me some feedback about what you understand and think should be done.
