One hundred years ago, folk song collector Cecil Sharp made an arduous journey from England to the southern Appalachians in search of a musical holy grail. Sharp was seeking what he believed were the oldest, purest forms of British Isles balladry in oral tradition.

Many folks know Folkmoot as an international folk festival. We’re proud that the mountains of Western North Carolina welcome the world to our region every July. But we’re more than the festival:
Asheville GreenWorks is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) working to enhance the environment and quality of life for the citizens of Asheville and Buncombe County through awareness building, community activities and partnership.
It says everything about Asheville that the chapel and offices of the Goddess temple are across the street from the First Baptist Church.
Mother Grove Temple was established in 2008. We have a full schedule of programs including public rituals for the ancient holy days (and Earth Day), religious education for adults and children, Full Moon ceremonies, Sunday morning meditation time, and rites of passage by appointment.
