The Break the Silence Speaker Series is Our VOICE’s largest fundraising event of the year. The series highlights the voice of a national leader, activist or survivor who has worked to improve systems in responding to and ending sexual assault or human trafficking in our communities.
The Event
We are all only too aware that 2020 has been a different and considerably challenging year, and we are looking forward to a better 2021. All of the unknowns about Covid-19 make planning a large event exceedingly difficult. We know that we will not be able to gather en masse as we did with Elizabeth Smart in 2018, or Tarana Burke in 2019. We are optimistic that we will not be completely virtual as with Amber Tamblyn in 2020, but that we may be able to host a “hybrid” event, both in person and virtual. The “in person” guidelines will be determined by the Governor of NC regarding how many people can gather safely in a room at one time.
